Artist's Comments

Here is one of the first shots I ever took while playing with my new close-up filters. Again, I'm poor, so I can't afford fun macro lenses, so I have a filter that sort of maybe does it for me. ;) This has been color and contrast re-touched in Photoshop - the rose blended far too well with the cathedral behind it. This was taken in the garden of the National Cathedral. It was my intent to show how the beauty of nature can overpower even the beautiful structure of the Cathedral. I'm quite fond of the Cathedral, and its gardens; they grow some of the best roses around.

Thank you! :) I had just started to really have fun with that close-up filter.

What is the close up filter? Is it on your camera or your editing program?
:iconseraphbriar:
It's on the camera. It's a lens cover that screws overtop of what's already there and has a similar effect to a macro lens. I can't afford a nice macro lens, but I can get within 5 or 6 inches of my target with a close-up filter, for only about $30.

Thanks for the info. Mine came with the macro but many I could do better with the external one like you use. But I will have to wait for a while. But you do an excellent job!!

Very pretty, and good job capturing the color and tweaking.
